Chris Mosley Headlines Historic Rivalry Win as North Carolina Central Crushes A&T 62-20
GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina Central University turned the 98th meeting of its heated rivalry with North Carolina A&T into a showcase of speed, balance and big-play offense. Led by running back Chris Mosley’s five touchdowns, the Eagles stormed past the Aggies 62-20 on Saturday night at Truist Stadium, recording their fourth straight win in the series and their second consecutive 60-point outing.
Mosley’s Breakout Performance Ignites NCCU
Mosley produced a career-defining night that is already trending across college football highlights. He broke loose for touchdown runs of 50 and 14 yards in the first quarter, added a 50-yard scoring reception before halftime, caught a 30-yard touchdown in the third quarter, and sealed the blowout with a 75-yard dash in the fourth.
By the end of the evening, the junior had compiled 168 rushing yards on 11 carries and 90 receiving yards on four catches — five total touchdowns that cemented his status as one of the top offensive threats in the Coastal Athletic Association.
Balanced Attack and Stifling Defense
Quarterback Walker Harris kept A&T off balance, completing 22 of 29 passes for 380 yards and three scores, while Arthur Rodgers chipped in 149 rushing yards and two touchdowns. In all, NCCU rolled up 745 total yards and held A&T to just 42 on the ground.
“The energy was incredible,” NCCU head coach Trei Oliver said. “Our guys executed from the opening kickoff, and Chris took advantage of every crease our line gave him.”
A&T Finds Bright Spot in Kevin White’s Return
For the Aggies, redshirt sophomore Kevin White’s return was a welcome development. Coming off a severe spring injury, White threw for 232 yards on 10-of-16 passing with one touchdown and one interception and added a two-yard rushing score. Graduate defensive end Tim Alderman provided the team’s other highlight with a 21-yard fumble-return touchdown plus two sacks, while linebacker Jonathan Kimbrough-Campbell posted a career-high 15 tackles.
Still, head coach Shawn Gibbs lamented missed tackles and poor gap control. “When you see a back go untouched to the edge, that’s not him, that’s us,” Gibbs said. “We’ve got to get better at setting edges and tackling if we’re going to compete at this level.”
Rivalry Rewritten and Playoff Implications
Saturday’s 42-point margin marked the largest win for NCCU in the 98-game history of the series, underscoring a shift in momentum in one of the Mid-Atlantic’s fiercest FCS rivalries. The victory keeps the Eagles (3-2) surging in CAA play and positions Mosley as an early candidate for league offensive player of the year honors.
North Carolina A&T (1-3) will try to regroup when it travels to Maine on Sept. 27. NCCU will look to keep its high-octane offense rolling as it eyes a playoff berth.
